Chipmunks
Chipmunks are small reddish-brown mammals with a black and white stripe. They are part of the squirrel family, but much smaller. There are different varieties of chipmunk throughout Canada and the US. The smallest grows up to about 8.5 inches long and only weighs about 1 to 2 ounces, and the biggest variety can be as big as 11 inches long and weight up to 4.4 ounces. They live in woodlands, at the edge of forests, sometimes in gardens and parks.
Chipmunks are out and about during the daytime eating and collecting food to store for the winter. They eat insects, snails, nuts, berries, seeds, fruit and grain. Though they climb up trees, they live in burrows in the ground.
