Flora

[rockyou id=139734175&w=426&h=319]

There’s quite a large variety of flora to be found at the sanctuary – I am only just beginning to catalogue some  and identify it. Some of the wild flowers are native only to this area, and there are many tree and shrub species here as well.

A two hour hike through the trails doesn’t begin to cover all the flora in the sanctuary, and many were not in bloom on my first trip through. Some will have been in bloom early in the season, and those I won’t be able to capture until early next spring; some have yet to come into bloom, so a few more exploratory hikes will be necessary through the summer to catch as many as I can with blooms on them, and then again in the fall to document the berries and seeds.

As I move forward, I’ll be adding as many of the tree species as I can identify too. “Flora” is a rather large category and as the image catalogue grows, it may need to be broken down into subsections in order to keep it manageable. Many of the plants and flowers are identified and you can view this information in the captions of the larger images, which you can view HERE.
