About the Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club

DSC_2897The OFGCC was founded in 1947 and is involved in wildlife conservation projects, helping to preserve forests, water, soil, air minerals and wildlife. They own, operate and maintain the George Langman Wildlife Sanctuary located at the 14th Concession of Oro-Medonte Township. As well, the club has a tree Farm with sighting-in range, pond and picnic area at Bass Lake and 9th Concession, and the Conservation Education Centre opened June 27, 1994 at George Langman Dedication StoneSanctuary with a 6 Km nature trail that is open to the public.

The club represents like-minded outdoor enthusiasts and sportsmen from the area, who dedicate their time and money in the interest of conservation.*

The goals of the Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club are to make this a better world for all to enjoy. To this end we keep a watchful eye for all forms of pollution, we do stream and habitat improvements, promote safe hunting practices through hunter education and encourage good fishing ethics, reforestation projects, plus much more.*

Membership Benefits

Membership in the OFGCC provides an exceptional opportunity to learn and participate in many conservation projects at the ground level. With just a few hours of your time each year, you can make a difference by improving the spawning habitat of rainbow and brook trout, feed deer in harsh winters, work on forestry projects or help maintain our splendid educational wildlife nature trail, just to name a few.*

The OFGCC has a strong belief that our children are our next future conservationists, and to this end we sponsor and help with many “kid’s fishing derbies”, science fairs, school visits, etc.*

By joining the Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club not only do you join one of the most active conservation clubs in all of Ontario, you also receive membership into the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) which includes many special offers, Sportsmen Public Liability Insurance and other discounts.*

Membership allows you a voice at the club and OFAH level on matters of concern about the proper management of our natural resources. In addition, membership in the OFGCC provides you a private recreational area for family camping or outings complete with fishing ponds, large sheltered picnic area, marked nature trails, and sighting-in range for members.*

The club also has many social events each year, including Ladies Appreciation night, club and family cookouts, Wild Game Dinner and Auction, Fishing Trips, Camp Out Weekends and a Beef and/or Pig Roast.*

Becoming a Member

If you are interested in becoming a working member of The Orillia Fish and Game Conservation Club, we would be glad to have you. For membership information, ask any conservation club member, or we can be reached at the contact information above.*
